Revolution Month for Social Media!

September is a month for another social media revolution. Facebook has updated to version 8, although I heard many people complaining about the new version of being too complicated to use, I have signed up for the developer of Facebook new timeline and I am quite enjoying it! Renren.com and Weibo have also offered new versions and the common feature of these updates, I can see, is that to make each site more integrated. Weibo used to be a miro-blog site, it still is right now, with more functions like online chatting, tagging friends while posting photos, sending pictures or links by private message, etc. It's been like a combination of Facebook and Twitter. Every social media site is becoming more synthesized, which makes it more convenient for the users.

Yesterday I watched the stream on Linkedin about President Obama addressing pulling people back to work. This trend is making itself more unique and powerful. Linkedin, as the biggest social media site for professional and career networking, offers a perfect platform for such topic. The stream was on Monday afternoon, so the address made available on Linkedin reaches very well the targeted audiences. Today I watched a video on Youku, which is the Chinese version of Youtube. This video is a short film as one part of a video program conducted by Youku, directed by an English teacher who newly became a director. This program is a campaign joined by many famous directors and artists. What I want to say is such form of art or communication is the result of social media. On one hand, people doing business have realized what social media can take, on the other hand, social media form of performance or programs are highly welcomed by the public because it's free and convenient! On this point, social media has created a win-win situation, and a good side of cyberspace that we should credit for.
